  • 2 pounds Choice Beef Top Round Steak
  • 16 ounces Button Mushrooms
  • 21 ounces Beef Consomme Soup
  • 1/2 cup Red Apple Vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 can Water
  • 3 Tablespoons Flour
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Neutral oil (vegetable or Canola oil)

Instructions

  1. In a heavy skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Brown the beef chunks on two sides, then remove.
  2. Sear quartered mushrooms in the same skillet until browned.
  3. Place beef and mushrooms in a slow cooker along with beef consomme, vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, and water. Cook on low for 6 hours.
  4. For the gravy, melt butter in a frying pan and add flour until caramel-colored. Stir into the slow cooker and cook for an additional 2 hours.
