  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1 cup goat cheese (crumbled)
  • 1 large egg (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon water (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (for topping)
  • Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In one bowl, mix diced shallots and jalapeños; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Stir in buttermilk and honey until just combined; fold in the shallots, jalapeños, and goat cheese gently.
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface and shape into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into wedges or rounds.
